The result is a pretty neat, smooth engine that portrays cars throwing their weight feels really good to play even at this early stage of development. At least, that's what I've been able to determine playing this game, since the cars tend to shift around at way more angles than what's possible with redrawing sprites at every possible direction. Where THQ's game uses strictly 2D elements to create its game engine, and where V-Rally 3 uses a mostly 3D graphics engine for environment with 2D elements for vehicles, Colin McRae 2.0 utilizes a hybrid 2D/3D engine.Mode 7-style tracks and flat roadside obstacles, with 3D texture-mapped polys for the vehicles in the game. Now Ubi Soft is entering that crowded field with a Rally game of its own, a port of the Codemasters' series, Colin McRae 2.0. Let's see.THQ's got an impressive Rally game for GBA with GT Advance 2, and Infogrames has one in the form of V-Rally 3.
